Glutathione is an effective supplement. Use as needed or as directed.
There are three common signs that may occur from taking too much glutathione or taking it too frequently:
- Headache
- Irritability
- Difficulty sleeping
If you do not already experience these and they started after supplementing with glutathione, reduce the frequency of taking it. You may want to stop supplementing for a few days.
The reason why headaches, irritability, and sleep difficulties occur is primarily due to glutamate. When taking glutathione at higher amounts, glutamate levels in your body naturally tend to increase. Glutamate is an excitatory neurotransmitter. Too much of an excitatory neurotransmitter is associated with headache, irritability, and sleep difficulties.
In the event you do take too much glutathione, and you are experiencing these uncomfortable feelings, consider supporting healthy glutamate levels by taking Lithium Orotate and Magnesium Plus. These nutrients are known to support healthy glutamate metabolism.
You may find that there are some days you’re exposed to more chemicals than others. These days, you likely want to support healthy glutathione levels with Glutathione Plus.†
On days where your chemical exposures are low, you may not need to supplement.
There are common times that one should consider supplementing with Glutathione Plus:†
- Airplane travel
- Long road trips
- Prior to getting into a sauna
- Cooking for extended periods of time and breathing in the smoke or gas fumes
- After a grueling competition of any type
- After being sick
- After being exposed to chemicals that bother you such as chlorine, formaldehyde, cigarette smoke, fragrances, paint, oils, gas, exhaust fumes
As always, talk with your healthcare practitioner.
